Dear friends,

I am glad to welcome the organizers, delegates and guests of the 14th World Congress of Psychophysiology “The Olympics of the Brain” in St. Petersburg.

Choice of our city as a place of carrying out of so representative international forum is far not casual. St. Petersburg has always been the educational and scientific center of Russia. Russian Physiology and Psychophysiology have arose in the City on Neva. The outstanding Russian physiologists I.M. Sechenov, I.P. Pavlov and V.M. Bechterev who have begun basic researches in this area of a science lived and worked here. Today the traditions created by these prominent scientists are actively keeping on and developing by the specialists of the numerous scientific and educational institutions of the Northern Capital.

I am sure that this World Congress “The Olympics of the Brain” will be a good platform for discussion of problems of modern psychophysiology and will serve the noble aim of the consolidation of international scientific cooperation.

For Petersburgers it is very important, that the forum has one more great mission: let it will be a good memory of Natalia Petrovna Bechtereva - the Honorable Citizen of St. Petersburg, the world famous scientist in the field of physiology of a brain.
